Litigation & Employment | Intermediate with ref. · Cobalt NZ
About the role
Working under the mentorship of two approachable partners in a team setting, the focus of your practice will be in litigation and will include tenancy & property disputes, insolvency, breach of contract, construction & insurance disputes. If you’re interested in employment law (contentious and some non-contentious work) as well as family law, then you’d be able to work in these areas too.
This firm has a flat structure and reputable brand in the market – the work will be hands-on and you’ll have the ability to attend mediations and deal with clients directly, with a good level of involvement in files. You will work in a firm that has modern practices and offices.
About you:
- 2 or more years’ PQE as a litigation lawyer. Ideally, you would have had some exposure to employment law/employment relations work and in private practice. If you have gained relevant experience in-house or in the public sector you may be of interest too provided you have good academics;
- Sound research, drafting and an interest in developing your advocacy skills;
- The ability to work with a reasonable level of autonomy in file management.
This role could suit someone that is doing either civil litigation or employment law work and wants a greater mix and variety of work. You might also want to work for a firm that values work/life balance while still performing at a high level.
NZ qualified lawyers looking to return from the UK or Australia are of interest too.
