In Taranaki it’s easy to achieve an enviable lifestyle, without having to compromise your career. The region’s dynamic surf, multitude of parks and gardens, iconic walkways, major events calendar and mountain playground makes it a great place to live. So whether you’re seeking a better lifestyle, starting a family, or simply looking for a change, consider coming and working for Powerco.
Powerco is New Zealand’s largest distribution company by network length and has assets worth around $2 billion. With the likes of smart grid technologies, electric cars, solar power and micro generation becoming more mainstream, Powerco needs to understand this disruptive technology and how best to design systems and infrastructure that help it plan to meet the demands of its customers for the future.
This is where you come in – we need an Architect Team Leader to front this change ($30-40m PA in projects) – we see you as someone that has been there and done that, is forward and free thinking (think innovator) and thinks that something is missing from current architecture design methodologies. Our thinking is that disposable architecture is the way forward and disruptive technologies are the reason that we need quicker solutions to requirements that constantly change.
We see you as someone that can prepare and deliver compelling presentations, but that can sense when to ditch the script and engage with people rather than slides. You thrive on complexity. You’re crazy about understanding how things work. You exercise great judgment every day to design solutions that deliver measurable returns. And as proposals become delivery projects, you enjoy the work of identifying and removing risks, building consensus, and preparing cross-organisational teams to get to work.
Key to your success in this role is your knack to communicate and present complex issues to a wide range of stakeholders. Your commercial acumen is second to none; you are good at delegating work packages, couple this with your creativity in solution design, and you’re in good stead. But most importantly it’s your ability to self start, adapt and change gears quickly as our business want quicker solutions to requirements.
Of course there are a few essentials that we expect you to have;
• Relevant tertiary qualification is essential, and a commerce qualification is desirable• 5-10 years of experience in system engineering and / or project management in New Zealand• Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering change – merging technical and business requirements together with business as the priority!
• Broad IT knowledge across infrastructure and / or software
In return for all of this we offer an excellent remuneration package made up of base salary, performance pay, subsidised healthcare, a flexible working environment with flexi time provisions, superannuation and lots of other great benefits. Of course if you are from out of town we provide an attractive relocation package.
For your personal and career development we customise a plan built around you, we provide the tools and resources necessary to make sure you are successful in this role.
You’ll play a vital role in building Powerco’s future – and build yourself a list of achievements and successes you’ll want to shout from the mountain. Career opportunities don’t get much better.
