A leading real estate business with a portfolio in excess of £13bn of prime assets, is seeking a Portfolio and Investment Analyst to join their Investment Strategy team.
The Team:
The Investment Strategy team prepares the annual Strategic Investment Review for our client’s Board. In addition, it leads on valuation, performance analysis and benchmarking and supports the portfolios in preparation of investment and development appraisals. It also provides the Board and Executive Committee with research, market insight and analysis that helps support the investment and asset management strategies. Finally, it is also responsible for reporting to our client’s joint venture partners.
The Role:
This role, reporting to the Senior Portfolio Analyst, would support the investment and asset management teams on all portfolios, in addition to taking ownership of quarterly and annual valuations, benchmarking and management reporting.
Role responsibilities will likely include:
- Strategic Investment Review – Assist in preparation of financial modelling to support the development of the investment strategy and contribute towards the development of the Strategic Investment Review.
- Investment and development appraisals- Analysis of investment and development appraisals, across both the Central London and Regional portfolios.
- Analysis and reporting- Undertake portfolio analysis, providing insight to the asset managers and portfolio directors on the drivers of performance, contribute to quarterly reports for third party investors and analysis of financial, tenancy and leasing data.
- Valuation- Coordinate and oversee quarterly and annual external valuations, including the provision of tenancy and leasing data.
- Data management- Be responsible for provision of data to MSCI for quarterly and annual total return benchmarks.
Candidate Specification:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally with established experience in investment.
- Good knowledge of the UK property market and the underlying economic fundamentals.
- Good Microsoft Excel skills, particularly manipulating, sense checking and analysing large amounts of data. Cashflow-based analysis and familiarity with appraisal based metrics would be preferred.
- Experience of producing reports on investment performance for internal and external use.
- Some experience of research techniques and the evaluation and application of economic and property forecasts with a strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Argus ValCap, particularly with regard to cash flow and portfolio performance functions, would be helpful but not essential.
