Employer is the CEO of a family office which runs a global oil and gas private equity fund that invests across the entire industry value chain. Established in 2007, the Principal’s unrivalled industry experience and background ensures that it is the preferred co-investment partner of a number of the largest industry focused funds. This provides the Fund with the opportunity to invest in many of the most significant industry PE investments.
As a family controlled and managed organisation, the fund enjoys total flexibility with respect to investment criteria and so is not restricted by specific capital allocation requirements as stipulated in traditional funds. Each opportunity (Upstream/Midstream/Downstream) is reviewed on an individual basis with a highly disciplined approach which relies on internal research and analysis rather than external consultants. Additionally, family ownership reduces the pressure to deploy capital and allows management to focus on fewer transactions that offer higher exit multiples. The Fund also takes an extremely active role in portfolio companies.

The Fund has exited numerous investments with realised returns significantly superior to other industry focused Funds. It has also demonstrated its ability to enter and exit Portfolio Company’s throughout the recent industry downtown highlighting its ability to invest in attractive opportunities amidst turbulence and recession.
Role:
The successful candidate will be significantly involved in all aspects of the business from financial modelling to reviewing legal agreements and will report directly to the CEO. The Candidate will be expected to manage and take responsibility certain aspects on a day to day basis. The candidate can also expect to undertake international travel.
Key parts of the role are:
- Business due diligence including in-depth business, operational and financial analysis of potential investments
- Extensive financial modelling including sensitivity analysis to support potential investment opportunities
- Financial evaluation of project investment opportunities including financial agreements
- Valuation analysis and interpretation of financial statements
- Contribution to technical due diligence including accounting, tax, legal, etc. aspects
- Contribution to deal structuring and financing
- Screening of potential investment opportunities
- Provide ongoing monitoring of assets with the firm’s portfolios including review of monthly operating results and maintaining project performance
- Develop and help implement strategies for specific portfolio companies
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry, trades and professionals

Candidate Profile:
- A successful candidate will have:
- A strong motivation (i.e. a “self-starting†character)
- Noticeably superior work ethic to peer group
- Â Unfailing attention to detail
- Â Strong analytical and communication skills
- Extremely strong experience and skill with Excel and Powerpoint
- Prior professional career will have been either within the O&G industry, strategy consulting or investment banking background
