Our client is one of the largest commercial property companies in the UK. They are looking to add a Commercial Accountant to their team. This role requires the successful candidate to take full ownership of a portfolio of properties, business partnering from a finance perspective with asset managers and/or development managers.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Full ownership (from a finance perspective) of a portfolio of properties, which may include developments. Own the relationship with your asset and development managers and, on an on-going basis, monitor and review the accounting performance of your properties, pro-actively identifying follow up actions to improve performance and dealing with all finance related queries. Provide good quality decisions on financial issues, whilst knowing when to seek advice.
- Full ownership of the month-end reporting process, as well as the specific portfolio related responsibilities detailed below, the collation of analysis.
- Produce timely management information for inclusion in the monthly business unit management information pack. Amongst other items, this will include a full property level review of portfolio rental income and costs, fully explaining variances to budget to stakeholders and to the wider finance team for inclusion within the monthly management information.
- Specific responsibility for reporting lettings across the portfolio, including reviewing with the portfolio managers on a periodic basis and understanding progress
- Full ownership of the budgeting and forecasting process for your portfolio, preparing 5 year forecasts on properties and working closely with the asset managers to understand lease assumptions and forecast property level inputs. Fully model all developments within portfolio in the budgeting tool, Cougar, using the development appraisals
Essential requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
- Previous experience of a budgeting process
- JV accounting
- Previous business partnering experience
