Ngāi Tahu Property Limited (NTP) was established in 1994 and is responsible for the property activities of the Iwi as a subsidiary of Ngāi Tahu Holdings Limited. Ngāi Tahu Property is a diversified property group managing investment, development and rural assets totalling more than $600 million in value.

The development activities within Ngāi Tahu Property currently include residential, commercial, industrial and retail projects. Current significant commercial projects include an $80m CBD office and carpark development along with a recently completed $25m specialist facility for NZ Blood, in Christchurch. Ngāi Tahu Property are also developing the Masterplanned residential communities of Wigram Skies, and Preston’s which to date has delivered over 3000 sections into the residential market. With continued successful growth in the South Island, Ngāi Tahu Property has established an Auckland office looking to maximize the extensive opportunities offered by the Auckland property development sector.

Ngāi Tahu Property is part of a joint venture developing a significant Auckland residential project. They are looking to bring on board an Auckland based, experienced Project Manager to take responsibility for the design and delivery of this immediate new development and of future projects.

Reporting to the Development Manager this is a significant hire for Ngāi Tahu Property as the role will require a full lifecycle approach with considerable emphasis on the planning, design, programming, procurement and turnkey delivery of the project.

Key Accountabilities – Ngā Kawenga Takohanga

  • Working alongside the development manager on the procurement of the project consultant teams.
  • Manage the design team and programme.
  • Monitor compliance with agreed procedures for document control.
  • Preparation of the tender documents, assessing all tenders and providing recommendations on finalising approved contractors.
  • Managing the project programme and ensuring that all contractors and sub-contractors are working to set timeframes.
  • Ensuring design specifications are being met during the construction process.
  • Taking responsibility for the health and safety on site and ensuring all employees and contractors promote a safe and healthy workplace.

A significant part of the role will be building key relationships (Nga Hononga matua) with local authorities and JV partners, consultants, contractors and internal team members.

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity the ideal candidate will have significant experience as a project manager in the Auckland region with emphasis on commercial, retail and residential apartment construction.

You will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction or quantity surveying.     
  • A strong working knowledge and understanding of NZS 3910 contracts.
  • Strong leadership and advanced competence in negotiation and client relationship building.
  • Good business acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to produce high quality reports.
